Advantech Remote Evaluation Service 6WIND Test Drive Portal
Remote test drive your VNF on the Openstack platform, powered by Advantech hardware and accelerated by the 6WIND Virtual Accelerator

Test Environment

Network Function Virtualization evaluation is currently available on Advantech hardware platforms as follows:

  • Ubuntu 14.04, OpenStack Kilo and 6WIND Virtual Acceleration on configurations with 40GE ports.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, OpenStack and 6WIND Virtual Acceleration on configurations with 10GE ports.

Level 1. Advantech Remote Evaluation Hardware Platform

The initial NFV portal runs on a Netarium™ ATCA reference platform connected to a packet generator that supports 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps traffic. The service is available through a Remote Access Server that secures access to the platform. The blades running the VNFs and the system can be monitored and managed using the Shelf Management Module in the ATCA platform.
The RES lab provides access to other hardware configurations and is being expanded as new platforms are introduced. More info on RES can be found at www.go-res.com.

Level 2. Hypervisor with 6WIND Acceleration

The virtual environment of the test drive portal is built by an OpenStack hypervisor that runs on a dual Intel Xeon ATCA control blade.
6WIND Virtual Accelerator runs into inside the hypervisor and is transparent to Linux and its environment, so that existing Linux applications do not need to be modified to benefit from packet processing acceleration.
VNFs can be deployed on two pairs of dual Intel® Xeon® blades providing installations with 6WIND Virtual Accelerator enabled and without. 6WIND Turbo Router and IPsec Appliances are also available for evaluation.
